Helping the world ultimately helps ourselves!

We are so lucky to be alive!  Simply by living, we often forget the wonderful miracle of our existence.  We get so caught up in our own lives (sometimes what we consider our own banal existence) that we lose the energy to take a responsible role in preserving the world around us.  We need to take a step back and consider all of the wonderful things that make up life - Being alive (!), eating a good meal, enjoying a walk in the park - you get my point.

What we all do have in our favor, is a beautiful world, chock full of oceans, mountains, rivers, and innumerable amounts of wildlife.  This world is what gives us our lives.  Without the air, we would not breathe; without rain we would starve.  The world we live in provides us with every single thing we need to survive. 

Without this world, we would cease to exist.  We need this world.  It is the only one we've got.

With this gift that the world has given us, comes a great responsibility.  Just as easy as it is for us to forget the simple miracle of being alive, we also often forget the serious necessity placed upon us by nature to care for and protect the environment we live in.

It is imperative that we take our responsibility seriously.  Our general lack of the aforementioned over the past hundred and fifty years has led to a decline in the overall health of the Earth.  Our lack of understanding of the ramifications of our actions doesn't cut it anymore.  Those of us living in the global north have very little ability to say, "We just didn't know".  We do know.  We see very often the ramifications of our actions.  We also know that there is a very large chance of the entire climate changing over the next hundred years, if we do not take responsibility for our actions.

By protecting and loving our world, we will begin to appreciate the vast importance that we each play in this intricate web of life!
